I am a Certified Member of the Mediation Institute of Ireland.
I am also a solicitor who has practiced in different areas of law in the UK, the USA and here in Ireland over a career spanning 20 years.
I have worked in private practice, commerce and in the public sector.
The wide range of experience I bring to mediation offers parties an opportunity to resolve their issues cost effectively, efficiently and quickly.
I have attended various courses in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) through CEDR in the United Kingdom and always encourage clients to consider options other than the legal route.
I have chosen a career in Mediation because I believe that this form of ADR offers the best opportunity for parties to keep a direct line of communication open which enables them to continue to work together either as parents, co-workers, or business partners.
I am now an independent mediator and my mantra is “Make court your last resort”.
I have seen all too often how parties feel frustrated and dissatisfied with the Court system but the skills and knowledge I acquired during my legal career are invaluable to me and my clients in my mediation practice.
Some Mediators operate out of their own homes.
I prefer to meet clients in an office environment, at a mutually convenient time, where clients are free to talk without any inhibitions.
I am English and married to a Tipp man whom I met in New York.
In 2005 we moved to Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, to raise our son with his extended family, and in the hope that he would have some of the childhood experiences that we each enjoyed growing up in a small town community.
I worked initially with the Nenagh Law Centre and this was a great experience for which I am thankful.
However, seeing once again the difficulties that parties face pursuing a dispute through the Courts I knew that I needed to revisit ADR.
After some research I decided that Mediation is the best option given what I have said already and in view of the European Directive which will make mediated agreements enforceable as Court Orders.
So, here I am and if you’re in need of a mediator I hope that you will contact me for a free initial ½ hour consultation, so that you and the other party can decide whether I might be able to assist you.
